Search Dog Heroes

Client:      Missing People
Year:        2018
Scope:     Branding, Logo, UX and Website Design

Search Dog Heroes is a new charity created in partnership with Missing People and Lowland Rescue. Search Dog Heroes has been awarded £1 million by People’s Postcode Lottery Dream Fund to train 100 search dogs and equip the carers and people living with dementia and mental health with the tools they need to act quickly if a loved one goes missing. The brief from Missing People was to create a logo, brand guidelines and design a website, which used Missing People’s Pink colour and Lowland Rescue’s Green colour and was suitable for their target audience of children and elderly people.

The concept for the logo was to create a simple and recognisable logo using iconography which showcases the Search Dog Heroes mission. These icons could be used in different variations and on different brand assets to easily communicate with their users. I made accessibility the main attribute to focus as potentially vulnerable people could be accessing the website in stressful situations. Therefore I chose high contrasting colours throughout the user interface and all text is either black and white on the contrasting background.  The website is currently live, and Search Dog Heroes have acquired more funding and are training search dogs around the UK.

The idea was to create a fun, and simple language through iconography, which Search Dog Heroes can use to represent parts of the project from the reporting to the searching. These can be used across a varity of media, such as on posters and T-shirts.
